The recruitment process for Railway Group D has started from February 10, 2018. The recruitment is done to fill 62,907 vacancies.

Railway Recruitment Group D 2018 Application Form Closes March 12, 2018
Computer Based Test (CBT) During April and May, 2018

The recruitment process will be carried out by the Regional Railway Recruitment Boards. The interested candidates can apply online on the regional website on or before March 12, 2018. 

The posts open under the Railway Recruitment 2018 Group D includes – Cabinman, Trackman, Leverman, Pointsman, Helper-II, Gr. D (Store), Keyman, Shunter, Welder, Fitter, Porter, Helper-II (Mech), Helper-II (ST), Gr. D (Engg.), Gangman, Switchman. 

Academic Qualification: The candidate must have a passing certificate of Class 10th or ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent or holding National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT. 

Age Limit: The candidate must fall in the age bracket of 18 to 31 years. Age-relaxation is applicable as per government rules. 

Pay Scale: The selected candidates will be eligible to receive a monthly salary of Rs 18,000 per month + allowances as per 7th CPC Level 1. 

Application Fee: 

Unreserved Category – Rs 500 

SC/ST/PWD/Women/Transgender/Minorities/Economically Backward/Ex-Serviceman – Rs 250 

Exam Pattern

The Exam Pattern for Railway Group D 2018 constitutes two stages, one of that is CBT or Computer Based Test followed by PET. 


First stage of CBT



  • Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -30%.
  • Will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions: English Only
  • There will be negative Marking as for every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted.

Second Stage: PET




Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is necessary for all the candidates if they want to get selected through Railway Group D Recruitment Exam.
